When it comes to the critical skills required for a satellite installation professional, noticed that a majority of satellite installers listed above 75% included customer service as one of their key skills required. While only 13.4% of satellite installers posted to site inspections, it was not surprising to see that many of those taking on this career did not have enough experience for their own business or did not take the time to find the proper inspections to even be considered for the job. Customers are always the main concern here, so if you are not sure whether you can keep customers happy, you will have a very difficult time competing against others who are all too willing to offer a guarantee your work. If you don’t mind telling customers that you don’t know what you are doing, there is no reason for them to not want to hire you for the job.

The second most common requirement listed for satellite installers, noted above, was that many of those taking on this job had minimal on-the-job training. Some of the biggest concerns for inexperienced satellite installers, noted in an independent survey of almost one hundred people involved in the satellite installation industry, were that many installers were not knowledgeable about the equipment, failed to follow installed instructions, or made costly mistakes which cost consumers money. Customers want a system that they can rely on, one that they can easily operate, and one which are safe to use and which does what it is intended.

One of the biggest issues, noted in the survey conducted, was, “Satellite installers do not receive adequate instruction on proper site surveys”. There is nothing which satellite dish owners can do which will help them to avoid this problem, however. In fact, even having an understanding of where and how a satellite dish should be set up on a roof is not enough. There must be accurate measurements to guide the placement of the dishes, which requires professional advice. It is also suggested that satellite installers receive some sort of orientation training from experts in the field.

Of course, customer service is one of the biggest reasons to choose a company which has been established for over thirty years versus a company which may just be starting out. One would expect a company with thirty years of experience in the satellite installer field to have developed expertise in answering questions customers have regarding their installations, rather than simply issuing them orders. A satellite installer resume should list specific customer service skills and customer references. There should also be an outline of a list of typical duties that will be expected from each crew member. Finally, the satellite installer resume should contain contact information, both inside the company and via phone, to enable companies outside the company to send representatives to work on installations.

Although the number of technicians licensed to work with satellite technology has been on the decline in recent years due to a lack of qualified applicants, there are still a significant number of openings that need to be filled. As a result, it is important for potential satellite installers to take time to learn the qualifications needed in order to successfully compete for jobs with existing and new companies. Fortunately, most satellite installer schools offer a selection of classes and seminars that can help aspiring technicians earn either a certification or associate’s degree in a short amount of time.

The two most popular certificates that satellite installers earn are either an associate’s or a doctoral degree. In addition to providing a higher salary and making it easier to secure employment, a higher education level typically increases the likelihood of success. A certified electrician with a four-year bachelor’s degree typically earns twice as much as someone who only has an associate’s degree. A doctoral degree, on the other hand, requires a person to have three to five years of completed courses in order to earn the highest possible salary and the highest possible certification in the industry. In fact, there are some situations where an electrician with a doctoral degree is more highly valued than someone with an associate’s degree.
